How to Sell Visa and Mastercard Gift Cards for Cash

Selling Visa & Mastercard Gift Cards

Visa and Mastercard gift cards are "open-loop" — they can be used almost anywhere. This makes them highly desirable, but also slightly more complex to sell due to fraud prevention measures.

How the Process Works

  1. Check your balance: Visit the card issuer website (printed on the back) and verify the exact balance.
  2. Select Visa or Mastercard: Find them under the "Prepaid" category on our sell page.
  3. Provide card details: Card number, expiration date, and the exact balance. Do NOT share the CVV until instructed by our team.
  4. Upload card photo: A clear photo of the physical card (front and back, with partial numbers visible) helps verification.
  5. Verification period: Prepaid cards take slightly longer to verify (2-12 hours) due to additional fraud checks.
  6. Receive payment: Once verified, payout is sent to your chosen method.

Visa & Mastercard Gift Card Rates

Current rates: 70-82% of face value.

Why are rates slightly lower than store-specific cards?

  • Higher fraud risk — open-loop cards are more susceptible to chargebacks.
  • Balance verification is more complex.
  • Some cards have purchase fees that reduce effective value.

Important Tips for Selling Prepaid Cards

  • Keep the purchase receipt: This significantly speeds up verification.
  • Do NOT register the card online: Registered cards with your name/address are harder to transfer.
  • Check for dormancy fees: Some prepaid cards charge monthly fees after 12 months of inactivity.
  • Know your card type: Vanilla Visa, GiftCardMall, and Green Dot cards all have slightly different processes.
